Description
Mode of Action
Abamectin 1.9% EC is a nerve poison. It generally works by amplifying the glutamate effects on the invertebrates-specific gated chloride channel, which prevents the transmission of electrical impulses in the muscles and nerves of invertebrates. They activate the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) system, which produces a chemical “transmitter” at nerve endings that inhibits both nerve-to-nerve and nerve-to-muscle communication. After a few days, the affected insect becomes paralysed, stops feeding, and dies.
