Description
Mode of Action of Chlorpyriphos 50% + Cypermethrin 5% EC
Chlorpyriphos is an organophosphate insecticide that acts by inhibiting the activity of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase in the nervous system of insects. This enzyme is responsible for breaking down the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which is essential for the proper functioning of the nervous system. By inhibiting this enzyme, Chlorpyriphos causes an accumulation of acetylcholine in the nervous system, leading to overstimulation of the nerves and ultimately paralysis and death of the insect. Cypermethrin, on the other hand, is a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide that acts by disrupting the normal functioning of the sodium channels in the nervous system of insects. These channels are responsible for transmitting nerve impulses, and disruption of their normal functioning causes an accumulation of sodium ions within the nerve cells, leading to hyperexcitation and paralysis of the insect.
