Description
Mode of Action
Spirotetramat is a new Ket-enol that works by inhibiting lipid biosynthesis. It has long lasting efficacy against the development stages of multiple sucking pests. Spirotetramat works against piercing-sucking insects like aphids, mites, and white flies by acting as an ACC inhibitor and interfering with lipid biosynthesis in the insects. When sprayed on, it is a systemic insecticide that penetrates plant leaves. It is ambimobile, moving upwards and downwards through vascular bundles. It is hydrolyzed to enol in plants via cleavage of the central ethoxycarbonyl group. Because of the double bond in the ring and the conjugation with the amide group and the benzene ring, this enol is more stable.
