An Approach Towards A Green Future: A Shift From Traditional Fertilizers To Modern Fertilizers
Nitrogen is a critical element for plant growth, development, and reproduction; plants literally can’t live without it. Many of the small structures inside plant cells, such as DNA and the amino acids that make up enzymes and other proteins, are composed of nitrogen-containing molecules. It is an important source of proteins and increases the mobility of nutrients.
To fulfill the nutrient requirements of plants, farmers use fertilizers, whether traditional or modern.
Conventional fertilizers such as Urea and Ammonium Nitrate have been favoured by farmers for the last few years. But their rapidly increasing usage has some negative effects too. One of the conventional fertilizers, Urea, has adverse effects on seed germination, seedling growth, and early plant growth in soil.
One of our OMRI-listed products, Aminofert HN 13%, is one such bio stimulant, which has a minimum content of 13% nitrogen and 80% amino acids. It is a water-soluble powder that is produced enzymatically from Non-GMO natural sources of protein and is very ideal for nitrogen-deficient crops. Aminofert HN 13% is recommended for organic farming. This soil conditioner is compatible with conventional nitrogen sources and most fertilizers. It can be used for all the field crops, including all the vegetables, fruits, and flowering plants.

The amino acid constituent present in the formulation is sufficient to fulfill the protein needs of plants. It provides all the essential amino acids to the plants and eliminates the risk of any deficiency in the soil, so the full growth of crops is not hindered. Aminofert HN fulfills the nitrogen needs of crops and helps in lush, vigorous, and dense plant development. It supplies an adequate 13% of organic nitrogen for rapid and thrifty growth and provides a dark green colour to the leaves. It serves to promote tillering, enable photosynthesis, and build protein in the grains. By increasing the nitrogen content, it also promotes natural mechanisms in the soil and improves rhizosphere microflora. This improved natural process, such as nitrogen fixation and potassium solubilization, contributes to soil structure and soil physico-chemical properties. All these factors contribute to organic food production.
Urea vs Aminofert HN 13%
Nitrogen Absorption
The Urea fertilizer can be absorbed by plants as nitrate, but before that, much of the originally applied nitrogen is lost to the atmosphere (volatilization) or carried away by water (leaching). This process consumes a significant amount of plant’s energy.
However, if we use Aminofert HN 13%, there is no need for the bacterial processes prior to absorption, which results in far fewer losses through leaching and volatilization, and thus can save significant amounts of plant’s energy that would have been used for nutrient uptake and amino acid synthesis.
Mode of Action
The Urea undergoes transformations in the soil nitrogen cycle before plants can use them, which are then incorporated into larger molecules. This cycle, which includes soil bacteria processes known as ammonification and nitrification, happens over a few days or weeks.
But if we compare Amino acid nitrogen, it is already in the “larger molecule” form, and so plants can put it to work directly and much more efficiently. On application amino acids are available to the plant in a ready-to-use form.
Dosage
The required dosage of Urea is 200–250 kg per hectare in comparison to Aminofert HN 13%, which has a required dosage of only 2-4 kg per hectare. The efficiency of Aminofert HN 13% is higher in comparison to Urea. Generally, 12–15 percent of amino acid nitrogen is equal to 45 percent of urea.
Application
Urea fertilizer can only be applied using the drench method, whereas Aminofert HN 13% can be applied through foliar spray, the drench method, and seed treatment in crops.
Solubility
The Urea is not water soluble as compared to Aminofert HN 13%, which is a complete water soluble product.
Effect on Climate
Urea production is adversely affecting the climate. The Urea production process emits CO₂, a greenhouse gas that is a major contributor to climate change. Exposure to CO2 affects human health and agricultural development too. Whereas, Aminofert HN 13% is a non-toxic, non-polluting, and natural nutrient. It is a chemical-free fertilizer, perfect for environmentally friendly practices.
